Learning Outcomes

This assignment is worth 40% of the total marks in the course and will cover the following learning outcomes as listed in the Course Outline:

Learning Outcome 1: Explain historical and contemporary developments in New Zealand’s economy and society.

Learning Outcome 2: Discuss Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Crown’s obligations, including how these have and have not been met, and the effects of colonisation.

Learning Outcome 3: Discuss various Māori business principles and values, and how they are applied in contemporary enterprises.

  • The word limit for this assignment is 200 words per entry, excluding references.
  • All sources should be acknowledged in the main body of the assignment and in a reference list at the end of the assignment. Task(s)

This written assignment requires you to explain how biculturalism and multiculturalism have shaped society and the economy in New Zealand by addressing the following points: 

1) Discuss the importance of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Aotearoa New Zealand, and the implications for the business community (500 words) (LO1 & LO2) 

2) Discuss Māori business principles and values and how these can be applied to various business contexts. You may choose the business context, for example, your country, culture, part-time work, family business, etc. (800 words) (LO1 & LO3) 

3) New Zealand is a multicultural nation. Explain the value of multiculturalism in New Zealand and its implications for you as a domestic or international student (whichever context applies to you) (500 words) (LO1)

Additional Instructions 

1) Use report format for this assignment; refer to the Learning Hub support on the structure of a report by accessing Moodle resources. 

2) Include additional information from the Internet, journal articles and textbooks.

3) Word count: between 1,800 and 2,000 words. 

4) Correct APA 7th referencing (a minimum of 10 academic references – more are better)
