Overview

For this assignment, you will apply what you have learned so far about assessment as you develop an outline for your assessment plan based on your work setting or a setting where you would like to work. You will also propose known strategies for navigating the resistance to assessment, as presented in the literature we have read in this course. In this real-world, on-the-job, practical assignment, you will assume the role of a teacher, a coach, an administrator, a member of student services, an academic department, or another program that serves students. In this scenario, your colleagues have been asked to collaborate on implementing an assessment plan, and you have been asked to draft the first outline. Make sure you include the components that are most important in your setting.

Instructions

Assuming the role that you chose above, begin outlining the assessment plan. You can use the following to help guide your outline:

  • Detail the program, curriculum, organization, or entity being assessed. Be sure to describe it well enough so that people reading your work will be able to understand the type of organization you are assessing.
  • Include the mission, vision, and goals of the entity being assessed.
  • Detail the metrics that will be used in the assessment.
  • How will the assessment be conducted?
  • Describe how the assessment will be designed to be equitable and inclusive.
  • Discuss why you believe the assessment to be important.
  • Who will be important in the assessment and what will their roles be?
  • Who are the stakeholders?
  • What is the culture of assessment in the program, curriculum, organization, or entity?
  • What are the outcomes to be assessed?
