Approaching Your Assignment

Aims and Objectives

This part of the assignment allows you to critically reflect on your learning during this module and how it supports your personal and professional development journey. By developing your reflective capabilities (for example, through increased self-awareness, critical analysis and evaluation), you will be able to identify the different factors that have helped shape your progress and the ways you have responded to these. This will help you actively plan to establish clear strategies to achieve your professional development aspirations.

Task

Submit an individual critical reflective analysis about what you have personally learned during the challenge and how this has contributed to your professional development. You will critically reflect on your role in the challenge, including a focus on how you applied curiosity, creativity, and knowledge of systems and processes to analyse and develop value propositions. You will also discuss a transformational moment and include a professional development plan that supports your reflective analysis.

Peer assessment: The task will also involve peer assessment, where you will assess and grade each team member’s contribution and participation throughout the Group Project in assignment 1. You will record this peer assessment (using the template provided) here in assignment 2 – Reflection.

Your Peer Assessments will be used to adjust each student’s final component mark for the Assessment
1 (up to +10% and –10% adjustment)

You may present your work for this assessment in any creative format that is appropriate to the challenge and as agreed by your tutor.

Structure and Coherence

Below is an example of how you may consider structuring your reflection irrespective of the agreed format.

The assessment should be well structured, organised, coherent and logical in flow. It should also be professionally presented.

Please note: This assignment is about reflection, self-awareness and evaluation. It can therefore be communicated in the first person, as it is primarily about your experiences and self-evaluations. It should not be a third-person account, nor should it be a literature review. Any reading that is suggested is to help you deepen your reflective capabilities in terms of understanding, skills and future application. Such reading can be referred to in your reflective piece, and where referred to should be appropriately referenced.

Self-study/preparation for the assessment

To undertake assessments 1 and 2 successfully, it should take you about 200 hours over the course of the term, so you should plan to spend around 16 hours per week working on this project.

Formative Assessment/Formative Feedback

Formative assessment can happen in many ways, both informally and formally. In the class sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice different tasks and activities and receive feedback from your tutors and peers. Whilst feedback serves to help you develop and hone your professional skills and attributes, it also plays an important role in helping you achieve the best outcome in your summative submission. It should also be used as direct supporting evidence in this assessment.

Formal formative assessment will take place in the form of a draft reflective piece or similar learning activity. Your tutor will let you know which elements of the draft or activity you are to submit for formal formative assessment and when. This will help you develop your reflection in summative.

The assessment deadline is MIDDAY (12:00 GMT/BST) on the day specified by your tutor. This will usually be midday on the 3rd day after your last class session of the term.

Interdisciplinary Teamwork

Interdisciplinary teamwork (or group work) is a real-life mindset. It’s a way to develop future personal and professional work skills and promote social bonding. Whilst assessment 2 is an individual piece of work, it requires you to critically reflect on your professional development throughout this module, which includes working in teams.
It’s important to keep notes of your collaborative methods, team planning and project management, and these notes should be used as direct supporting evidence in this assessment.

Completing Your Assignment

Mandatory Assignment Cover Sheet

All assignments must be accompanied by a completed Mandatory Assignment Cover Sheet. This should normally be included as the first page of your assignment submission, but on occasions it may be appropriate to submit it separate to your submission.
