Group Assignment: Management Functions and Practice in a Simple Business

2. What This Assignment Is

This assignment is given to help you understand the basics of management in an easy way. In class you learn theory. Here, you will link that theory to a real or simple business. Your group will pick a business, study how it manages people and work, and then write a report.

3. What You Will Learn

By the end of this assignment, you should be able to:

• Explain basic management functions
• Show how a business plans, organizes, leads, and controls
• Work as a team to write a short report

4. Group Formation

• Each group must have 4 to 5 members.
• Everyone should take part in the work.
• Choose one member as the group leader.

5. Assignment Tasks

Task 1: Choose a Business

Pick a small business you know. It can be:

• A shop
• A cafe
• A small service business

Or you can create a simple made-up business if you want.

Task 2: Management Functions

For your selected business, explain these four basic management functions in simple words:

• Planning: How does the business plan work or goals?
• Organizing: How does it divide the work?
• Leading: How does it handle people and motivate them?
• Controlling: How does it check that things are going right?

Task 3: Give Examples

For each function, give one or two simple examples. Write them in short paragraphs.

Task 4: Simple Conclusion

Write a short conclusion about what your group learned from this task.
Do not write long theory. Just explain what you saw in the business.

• Length: About 1,500 – 2,000 words
• Font: Times New Roman or Arial
• Font size: 12
• Line spacing: 1.5

7. Submission Instructions

• Submit only one report per group.
• Upload on UiTM official system (UFUTURE / i-Learn).
• Late submission may lose marks.
