Academic Integrity

ākonga (learners) are required to be honest and act with integrity in their learning and assessments. Ākonga are required to: present their own original work for assessment, acknowledge contributions from other sources by using the referencing format required for your Kaiako (tutor), not collude on assessments with other ākonga, not knowingly help others to cheat, not present another person’s assessment as their own (this includes purchased and AIgenerated assessments) and keep written and electronic work secure to prevent others from accessing and copying work. Any breaches of academic integrity follow the process set out in the academic integrity policy and procedures.

Ākonga (a learner) who anticipates difficulty in submitting assessments by the due time and date may request an extension. The extension request must be in writing and agreed to three working days prior to the assessment due date. Your Kaiako (tutor) mayrequest to see assessment material completed to date, prior to any decision.

If ākonga (a learner) submits an assessment after the due date and/or time without an approved extension, the assessor will still accept the submission (within 7 days of the due date) and apply a penalty.

A 5% penalty will be applied to submissions received within 1-72 hours after the due date, and a 15% penalty will be applied to submissions received from 72 hours (3 days) up to a maximum of 7 days after the assessment’s due date.

Any submission that exceeds 7 days without an approved extension will receive a zero grade.

Ākonga (a learner) who have made a reasonable attempt (30% minimum overall grade) and failed an in-course assessment task are allowed one resubmission per assessment task within a portfolio. The maximum mark or grade available for a resubmission is the minimum pass mark 50%.

A request for a resubmission is made to the relevant to your Kaiako (tutor) no later than five working days after the marked assessment has been returned to the ākonga (learner).
