Aims
The main aims of this course are:
- To highlight how economics can be used as a tool to help understand the world around us;
- To introduce students to a range of microeconomic and macroeconomic principles that can be used by individuals, businesses and policy makers to address issues involving scarcity, choice, resource use, economic management and public policy.
Learning outcomes
After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

Mandatory Course Requirements There are no mandatory course requirements in this course. Sub-minimums In order to be awarded a pass grade in the course you must attain 40% or more in the final examination and 50% or more in the course overall. You will receive a grade of F (fail) for this course if you obtain a mark of 50% or more in the course overall, but obtain a mark of less than 40% in the final examination. |
Assessment Details
Note: All electronically-submitted assessments will be either completed or uploaded via the Akoraka | Learn course page. As per the Assessment Policy, marked assessments, except for final exams, will normally be returned to you, with feedback, within three weeks of submission. You can view your internal assessment results via Grades on the Akoraka | Learn course page (also referred to as Gradebook and used on all Akoraka | Learn course pages).
Assignment
The Kaupapa Tuhika | Assignment is to be submitted by 5 pm on the 18th of May via the Akoraka | Learn course page. Kaupapa Tuhika | Assignment is to be completed individually. The Kaupapa Tuhika | Assignment contributes to a maximum of 20 % of the final grade. Instructions will be made available on the Akoraka | Learn course page.
